Working on a new addin for Graffiti

If you take a look on the side of the site you'll see a new addition. There is now a calendar that displays the days that had posts as links. I was looking around for something to add on to this site from the Telligent forums and couldn't find anything, so I wrote my own. It's pretty down-n-dirty right now but it's functional. I ended up doing my own custom Chalk feature, a custom .View and a Widget all with a special post. I'll be tweaking it over the next bit of time and I'll let you know when it's done. I figure I'll probably put it up on CodePlex and see about getting it in the Graffiti Marketplace....

Anyways, hope you enjoy it.

Holiday's - AFK

With the holiday's quickly upon us and all that the season entails I'll probably be posting very little. I'll try to keep things up to date but alas it's not always easy to do. Besides, I'm still looking for a good pet project and until something strikes me I may be a bit of a dud online anyway.

Best wishes to everyone who celebrates this time of year... stay safe (and warm....it was -30(f) here this last week)....

Looking for a Pet Project

Wow... it's been a while since I've posted anything. It's been a crazy time and since the move it seems like any free time that comes up seems to go into getting things done around the new place. Oh, I'm not complaining at all, it's fun actually, but it seems that the time flies out the window. Anyway.... I've been plugging away on the computer a bunch lately and finishing up some work and I had a free moment to think and I started pondering what the "next thing" would be. Let me elaborate a little. Every now and then I like to stop and think about what my next pet project will be. I've done a number of different portals, starterkits, addons, etc and now that my computer time will be opening up a little again (current contract project is finishing up) I'm thinking about it again. Now, with that in mind I was really pondering it....and I really got stuck. I'm in a rut and really am not coming up with anything. There are sooooo many social things flying around the Net right now (twitter, facebook, linkedin) and a lot of addin projects but none of them really appeal to me. I was really interested the gaming side of technology lately (Microsoft XNA stuff) but it's not a "pick up and go" thing and way more intense than I want to get into right now. There aren't any apps that I am really driven to write either. So, and this is where your input comes in, what ideas do you have? Are there any programming/computer/techie things out there that you find interesting and something that would be worth digging into? I'm looking for something fun.....

Post your ideas, your comments, anything... or even send them to me directly if you want. A good project has got to be out there but I'm stuck....

Moving - Pt3.

Wow.... it's a lot more work than you would think. Packing was loads of fun (thankfully she did most of it) and was a lot more work than I thought it would be. Moving itself (it took 5 16' truck loads) was huge. I was able to get a bunch of volunteers (thanks guys/gals) and that really made a difference. My legs and my back took days to recover and were in some pretty bad pain for a while but have recovered, mostly. We've got everything to the new place and have been working away at getting things unpacked or at least into they right vicinity. Kitchen and Living Room are close to complete. The second Living Room and the Crafts Room are both really close and the Master Bedroom just needs a few touches and it will be "close enough". The sheer amount of cardboard that we have piled up would really blow you away... (and yes, we're recycling).

Anyway, just thought I'd fill you in and finish up this thread/thought....
